I feel prepared to teach the ELA standards that have to do with writing and grammar. For example: teaching how to compose an informative essay or how to use proper conventions. I believe I am ready to teach those standards because of the amount of literature and English classes I have already taken that have given me the necessary skills to teach it to others. Definitely the standard that I would require more knowledge on would be conducting a collaborative discussion amongst students. I would need more information on this topic because conducting a discussion requires proper planning that I still need to learn more about.
The CPALMS educator Toolkits provide many useful resources for variety of school subjects that are essential in student learning. The interactive vocabulary mastery tool for 6th graders provides the students with a multitude of benefits. With this tool students will be able to take a 30 minute practice test on new vocabulary words. Utilizing this will help students learn new definitions and higher vocabulary words they can now incorporate into their writing and every day life. I would like to use this in my classroom because since I intend on teaching English, this would be extremely beneficial to my students improvement in both their writing and short response answers.
When working on my newsletter design I acquired a couple new skills. I was able to learn how to properly format a newsletter and adds borders to it. I also learned how to efficiently use word art and how to include a two column list of bullets. I liked how there was a variety of templates to choose from and I was able to easily personalize the newsletter to my liking. What I did not like was how difficult it was to place pictures on specific areas because it would completely alter the entire format. I had to attempt it multiple times until I was able to get the hang of it. For next time I would definitely watch more tutorials on youtube on how to create a newsletter so that I go in more prepared. This will help me tremendously in the future because I can now use this to send out important information to both parents and students.
